Host Families Needed for Six High School Exchange Students from Jinju, Korea
Six high school students, three girls and three boys, from Jinju, Korea will visit
Eugene high schools, January 3-21, 2007. The Eugene-Jinju Sister City
Committee offers Eugene area citizens an opportunity to host the students
during their short stay in Eugene. Families with students attending Eugene
high schools, public or private, are preferred so that host students may
take their guests to their own schools. Host students who want to make a
reciprocating visit to Korea next summer will have priority upon
application.
While attending area schools Korean ambassadorial students explore U.S.
American culture and the education system, practice English, and deepen our
sister city relationship. Cultural activities often include a tour of the
Oregon Coast, a Cascade ski trip, a Portland metro excursion, sports
competitions, and Hult Center performing arts events.
Jinju has been Eugene’s sister city in Korea since 1961. The annual high
school exchange has been successful since January 2002. Volunteers for the
Eugene-Jinju Sister City Committee provide their services for the citizens
of Eugene.
Students, parents and schools in the Eugene-Springfield area interested in
participating in the Korean Sister City exchange programs should contact
either Linda DeSpain, President, at 687-2427/desbills@cmc.net or Ki-Won
